NIR cannabis testing,explained.
Near-infrared light reads the chemistry of a dried, ground cannabis sample in one scan. With the ProxiScout™ by BÜCHI and four cannabis models built by Valenveras, you decide on site. Your accredited lab certifies.

Light in. Chemistry out.
NIR stands for near-infrared spectroscopy. It reads what a sample is made of from the light it sends back. No reagents on your side, no waiting for a courier.
- LightThe ProxiScout™ shines near-infrared light, from 1,350 to 2,550 nm, onto the prepared sample.
- MoleculesThe molecules in the sample absorb part of that light, each in its own way.
- SpectrumThe scanner records the light that comes back: a spectrum, the chemical fingerprint of the sample.
- ModelA Valenveras cannabis model turns that spectrum into results you can act on.

One scan, one spectrum. The model reads it as potency, terpenes, leaf nutrients and drying.

NIR testing, in plain answers.
What is NIR cannabis testing?
Near-infrared (NIR) spectroscopy reads the chemistry of a sample from the light it reflects. With the Valenveras Portable Lab, you scan a dried, ground sample on site and the Valenveras cannabis models report potency, terpenes, leaf nutrients and drying results.
Is this the NeoSpectra THC tester?
The scanner is the ProxiScout™, designed and manufactured by BÜCHI in Switzerland. NeoSpectra® is BÜCHI’s platform where your results, data and models live: the NeoSpectra Scan App (iOS and Android) and the NeoSpectra Cloud Portal.
Does NIR replace HPLC or my accredited lab?
No. NIR is a decision tool for production. Your accredited laboratory remains the reference and issues the certificate of analysis.
How do I prepare a sample?
Dry, grind and sieve it through a 1 mm sieve, then load it into the Powder Analysis Kit. You provide an oven or air fryer, a grinder, the 1 mm sieve and gloves.
What do I need to start?
The ProxiScout™ scanner by BÜCHI, the Powder Analysis Kit, and an annual subscription that includes the four Valenveras cannabis models and the NeoSpectra® Platform.
Can I see it on my own samples?
Yes. Book a live online demo and tell us which parameters matter to you.
